Guantánamo detainee resurfaces in terrorist group

Duh ???!!!
By Robert F. Worth
Published: January 23, 2009 in the International Tribune
BEIRUT: The emergence of a former Guantánamo Bay detainee (Said Ali al-Shihri) as the deputy leader of Al Qaeda's Yemeni branch has underscored the potential complications in carrying out the executive order that President Barack Obama signed that the detention center be shut down within a year.

B. Hussein Obama was overheard to say to his advisers…“ Man I …uh…. thought closing … uh Gitmo was a good plan. Don’t these terrorists know I am the ONE? The fat Oprah says so. Tell Said Ali al-Shihri that when we let them go to destroy America they can't get caught again. We can only blame this on W for so long. Get these terrorists on the program. No more worshipping Allah. They worship me! They bow to me! No more getting caught. Carry out this decree!"

William Blake wishes you Espresso, Logic and Happy New Years

My break from the college where I teach was suppose to be about finishing several compositions, and at least get my new CD to the mixing and mastering stage.
I actually looked forward to that and hoped for a very introspective and quiet Christmas.
A week of no electricity or heat right before Christmas put me in survival mode rather than creative mode. (See the post Elvis put up below) Even though I’ve understood intellectually how good I have it and how comfortable everything is in my modest home; and I actually have no reason to complain about anything …. but I still do.

Not being able to stay in my house made me realize how ungrateful and complacent I am. Not being able to have espresso, and actually having to drive at least 20 or 30 minutes just to get lousy coffee made me actually change somehow. I know that sounds simplistic and silly. I was never in danger of starving or freezing to death. I could go places where people had a generator or a woodstove. I wasn’t in the middle of a war zone, (even though it looked like it in many areas here in NH) just displaced. I could stay in my house but only lay under many many blankets, but I could do nothing. The power was restored just before Christmas. For many people it wasn’t. For many people it still isn’t.

This Christmas was very quiet. This Christmas I received a gift. One that is a heart felt or soul felt perspective of taking nothing for granted. This is much more than an intellectual understanding. As an adult I’m a little embarrassed that what my grandfather knew at a young age I seem to just be really grasping and knowing.
I hope it lasts. Being human I’m a little skeptical that it will. I do know sometimes we can change for the better.

Now things have settled down and I have been writing for several days.
I’m working on a piece for a dancer. It’s supposed to be 3 minutes or so in length.

This morning I’m starting a third piece for this dancer. I don’t know why … just because.
Just because I take certain themes or ideas from a previous version and make them part of a new piece. I guess it’s kind of like the re-mix idea. In thought only, … probably.
Maybe this will be a multi- movement dance piece. Maybe I’m wasting my time. I don’t care though. Somehow I feel very good just playing with notes. I feel very good enjoying the space I live in and hearing what I’m playing with.

I am also working on a piece for marimba and guitar and some choral pieces. Except I have finally fired up my recently acquired Logic Pro 8.
This is causing another problem. It’s so easy to edit and change in myriad ways what I’ve written or recorded. That’s probably why I keep doing different versions of a three-minute piece. I will be exploring and learning this program over Christmas break. It’s not like I have time to do that. I just like playing with the notes. ☺

I did buy two pounds of espresso last night. I had the beans ground just the way I like them. So maybe now you see how more and more espresso comes in handy. Why? Because, no one actually cares if I know the ins and outs of Logic, and they certainly don’t care if I am happy wiling away my time playing with notes. However, they do care if I get the music written. So my expensive espresso is not only a symbol of how good I have it, it also helps me to stay awake just a little bit longer…. I THINK ☺
So I will continue in this space, in which I’m grateful for this New Year in a very new way. I will enjoy my loved ones, friends and God’s touch of music with a new heart.
……. And If I just want to play with a new gift of hearing and seeing I will ……..

I’m off to make another pot and to find some empty staff paper.

Happy New Year to all of my friends!

William Blake is reading John Donne

Nativity by John Donne 1572-1631

Immensity cloistered in thy dear womb,
Now leaves His well-belov'd imprisonment,
There He hath made Himself to His intent
Weak enough, now into the world to come;
But O, for thee, for Him, hath the inn no room?
Yet lay Him in this stall, and from the Orient,
Stars and wise men will travel to prevent
The effect of Herod's jealous general doom.
Seest thou, my soul, with thy faith's eyes, how He
Which fills all place, yet none holds Him, doth lie?
Was not His pity towards thee wondrous high,
That would have need to be pitied by thee?
Kiss Him, and with Him into Egypt go,
With His kind mother, who partakes thy woe.

On the Morning of Christ's Nativity
This is the month, and this the happy morn
Wherein the Son of Heav'n's eternal King,
Of wedded Maid, and Virgin Mother born,
Our great redemption from above did bring;
For so the holy sages once did sing,
That he our deadly forfeit should release,
And with his Father work us a perpetual peace.

II
That glorious Form, that Light unsufferable,
And that far-beaming blaze of Majesty,
Wherewith he wont at Heav'n's high council-table,
To sit the midst of Trinal Unity,
He laid aside, and here with us to be,
Forsook the courts of everlasting day,
And chose with us a darksome house of mortal clay.

III
Say Heav'nly Muse, shall not thy sacred vein
Afford a present to the Infant God?
Hast thou no verse, no hymn, or solemn strain,
To welcome him to this his new abode,
Now while the heav'n, by the Sun's team untrod,
Hath took no print of the approaching light,
And all the spangled host keep watch in squadrons bright?

IV
See how from far upon the eastern road
The star-led wizards haste with odours sweet:
O run, prevent them with thy humble ode,
And lay it lowly at his blessed feet;
Have thou the honour first thy Lord to greet,
And join thy voice unto the angel quire,
From out his secret altar touched with hallowed fire.

Is this Obamas fault or do we still blame Bush?

Not quite Christmas... kind of like the witch from Narnia is back.

Power out for weeks, maybe months for some.

IS this devastation from Bush or Obama? The legendary Fred Ralista is working on this case!

Don't ever WAG your finger at private business again!

Want a raise? Don't beg to your boss. Just vote yourself one. That's what the United States Congress just did. For the fifth year in a row, lawmakers voted not to reject their automatic "cost of living" raise that will increase the annual salary of members by $3,400 to a total of $158,103 per year.

It's really now time to harass congress constantly. They are only in our way. The things they do and say… and the laws they make. They want us to do with less and yet cannot do with less themselves. They are despicable human beings. They have titles like the “ Honorable" so and so from some stupid state. There is nothing honorable about these people. They need to be put in their place once and for all. What the hell America… It’s time to put these peoples feet to the fire.

Not Too Long Ago In Chicago

This picture was taken several months ago in Chicago during a highly secretive meeting.....

"Okay Blago and Barry raise your right hand and promise you will never admit to being together, never mind speaking about the senate seat. "

"We promise Mayor!"

Just last week the highly indignant and insulted President select with the embattled governor from Chicago was heard to say.......

"We are never together, never mind speak about how much money will pass hands for the replacement of my senate seat. That would be impure and not show the hope for the change that I promised!"
